Medical credentialing for faculty is initiated by the clinical department that sponsors the individual’s appointment. The process starts with the clinical department’s academic affairs office alerting the Office of Medical Affairs and Governance of the need for medical privileges. OMAG oversees the credentialing process for all providers at UCSF Health locations, including BCH Oakland.
The application process starts in the electronic portal called UC Me. In the application, providers at BCH Oakland need to select the “BCH Oakland” location in addition to any other sites for which privileges are requested in order for the application to correctly route to BCH Oakland’s site-specific Medical Staff Office for review and committee deliberation. Providers should plan for the credentialing process to take between 4-6 months.
